It鈥檚 that time of year again to contend for Wear Red bragging rights. The 青青草视频 will celebrate it鈥檚 third annual Wear Red Day on Aug. 29. The event is held in conjunction each year with National College Colors Day.
To mark the event, the university encourages everyone to Wear Red to show support and passion for Louisiana鈥檚 Ragin鈥 Cajuns.
And again this year, businesses and schools can participate in the Wear Red contest. 鈥淭he contest will be divided into categories based on a company鈥檚 overall size,鈥 said Matt Tarver, assistant director for Trademark Licensing. 鈥淭he winning companies and schools will be recognized as 2008 Wear Red Champions with an on-field presentation during a UL Lafayette home football game.鈥
Photos of all participating teams will be displayed on the giant scoreboard at home football games throughout the season.
In 2007, more than 70 businesses submitted photos for the competition. Winners included:
鈥 Home Mortgage, small business
鈥 Southland Engine, mid-size business
鈥 Garden View Assisted Living, large business
鈥 Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, spirit winner; and
鈥 Cathedral Carmel School, K-12 school spirit winner.
To enter this year鈥檚 Wear Red competition, simply submit a high-resolution digital photograph of your group wearing red on Aug. 29, along with a note indicating the total number of people wearing red and the number of people employed by your business.
Submissions can be sent via email to WearRed@louisiana.edu. The deadline for photo entries is Sept. 8.
Businesses and schools can also compete in a new Wear Red slogan contest. 鈥淲e will also be recognizing the business and/or school with the most creative Wear Red slogan or catch phrase that is displayed at the business or school location,鈥 said Tarver. 鈥淭o enter this competition, just take a photo of the slogan on the company sign and email it to WearRed@louisiana.edu.鈥
The deadline for the slogan photo submissions is also Sept. 8.
