Interim Provost Dr. Carolyn Bruder has been honored with the University鈥檚 first Dean McPhaul Service to Students Award.

She received the honor during the Ragin鈥 Recognition Awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 17, at Angelle Hall.

The award is named in honor of the late Dean Mary Olive McPhaul, who passed away in January. It was created based on a recommendation of the Student Leadership Council.

Ashley Mudd of the University鈥檚 Student Leadership Council praised Bruder鈥檚 longtime 鈥渄edication to UL Lafayette students.鈥

Bruder began her career at University in the 1970s as an English instructor. She later became head of the Department of English. Today, she is also vice president of Academic Affairs.

鈥淚 think I鈥檝e been very fortunate to work in a field where every day you impact the future, because you impact students who are just about to enter their adult lives,鈥 Bruder said.
