Dewayne Bowie Named Interim VP For Enrollment Management

Dr. Joseph Savoie has recommended to the ULS Board of Supervisors that Dr. DeWayne Bowie be named the interim Vice President for Enrollment Management at the 青青草视频. This new vice president position is part of a reorganization plan being put in place by Savoie.

The Enrollment Management Division will provide direction and coordination of the efforts of multiple offices to improve student recruitment, retention and graduation rates.

Areas that will report directly to Bowie include Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions, Registrar鈥檚 Office, New Student Orientation, Enrollment Services, Veteran鈥檚 Affairs and the Scholarship Office.

Bowie has served as the university鈥檚 Registrar for the past eight years.

鈥 I am very honored to have the opportunity to serve as interim Vice President for Enrollment Management and look forward to working with students, faculty, staff, administrators and the community on developing and implementing strategies to improve student success,鈥 said Bowie.

He will continue to function as the university鈥檚 Registrar until the full organizational structure is finalized.

Prior to serving as Registrar, Bowie served as Director of Financial Aid.

鈥 DeWayne鈥檚 experience and leadership will help the university improve student recruitment and increase student success and graduation rates,鈥 said Savoie. 鈥淗e鈥檚 been very committed to the university and he understands what needs to be done to achieve our goals in that area.鈥

Bowie is a UL Lafayette graduate, having earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Computer Science in1988 and an MBA in 2000. He earned a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Research from LSU in 2006.

His professional affiliations include the Louisiana, Southern and American associations of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. In addition, he is a member of the American Educational Research Association and he currently serves as chair of the Louisiana Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. He also serves as a university representative on the Cajundome Commission.

Bowie鈥檚 past memberships include serving as an executive board member for the Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. He also chaired the Technology Committee of the Louisiana Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and is a past member of the NCAA Division I Athletics Certification Self-Study Steering Committee. Bowie previously served as a member for the National Association of Sigma Users.

On campus, he chairs several committees including Fee Appeals, Residency, Commencement, Employee Appreciation, University American Heart Walk and Facilities Inventory and Space Utilization. He is also past president of the UL Lafayette Black Faculty and Staff Caucus.
