CajunCodeFest 4.0 to focus on diabetes health care

The Informatics Research Institute at the 青青草视频 is seeking innovative students, programmers, software developers, designers, healthcare professionals, marketing and business strategists, and entrepreneurs for its CajunCodeFest 4.0 competition.

A person or team who develops the best software tool or application related to diabetes health care will win CajunCodeFest 4.0, and get a chance to present their project to a team of potential investors.

鈥淲ith nearly 30 million children and adult diabetics in the United States and 1.7 million Americans diagnosed every year, the winning team has the potential to make a major impact in the area of diabetes care,鈥 said Andrea Aloisio, external affairs manager for the Informatics Research Institute.

CajunCodeFest 4.0 will be hosted in partnership with the REACHnet, an acronym that stands for Research Action for Health Network. The network is overseen by a partnership that includes the Louisiana Public Health Institute. It is based in New Orleans.

Event organizers will make data available to CajunCodeFest 4.0 competitors through SMART on FHIR technology. The technology provides a platform for the secure electronic exchange of health care information.

CajunCodeFest began in 2012 as a 27-hour 鈥渉ackathon.鈥 Competitors at the yearly event have addressed a range of topics related to health care, such as childhood obesity, and aging.

The event has evolved into a longer competition, to give teams time to build a marketable tool or application. CajunCodeFest 4.0 will culminate on Friday, April 22.
