Alumni Association Awards Scholarships

The generosity of donors to UL Lafayette’s Alumni Association and proceeds from its Prestige License Plate program are paying off for nine students during the upcoming academic year.

The Alumni Association recently awarded its endowed scholarships for the 2005-2006 academic year. Funding comes from specific donations earmarked for scholarships and through the UL Lafayette Prestige License Plate program.

The annual $500 ($250 per semester) scholarships are awarded to one exemplary student in each academic college and the Association of Future Alumni.

Recipients of this year’s scholarships include: Mathilda Marie Johnny of Lafayette, a dietetics major in Applied Life Sciences; Amanda Couturie of Harvey, an interior design major in Arts; Robyn Bourque of Lafayette, a marketing major in Business Administration; Hanna E. LeJeune of Iota, a health and physical education major in Education; Trent B. Daigle of Branch, a General Studies major; Leah Abshire of Lafayette, a history major in Liberal Arts; Jason Robert Trahan of Opelousas, a nursing major in Nursing and Allied Health Professions; Seth Boudreaux of Delcambre, a mathematics major with chemistry and biology minors in Sciences; and Kyle Joseph Patton of Lafayette, an animal science major and member of the Association of Future Alumni.

Award recipients were selected by the Alumni Scholarship Committee, which is a standing committee of the UL Lafayette Alumni Council. It is comprised of both elected and appointed council members who have volunteered to serve.

Students must have a 3.0 GPA, be attending the university fulltime and must have completed 90 credit hours. In addition, extracurricular activities are considered.
